What we’re about
We are a diverse group of individuals and organizations coming together to address the various racial inequities in Orange County. We have been educating ourselves on these issues and have partnered with like minded organizations already active in this space. Education and understanding is a lifelong effort but we are now ready to take action against racial inequities with the long term goal of effecting policy change. Join us for one of our meetings or events and please let us know if you have any questions. Private message any of the leaders on Meetup.
Why Equity Matters
An equitable region is one in which all residents, regardless of race/ethnicity or nativity, neighborhood of residence, or other characteristics, are fully able to participate in their region’s economic vitality, contribute to the region’s readiness for the future, and connect to assets and resources. Latest data analyses find that inequality hinders economic growth and prosperity, while greater economic and racial inclusion fosters economic mobility and stronger growth. This suggests that equity—full inclusion of all residents in the economic, social, and political life of the region, regardless of race, ethnicity, age, gender, or neighborhood of residence—is essential for regional prosperity.
