What we’re about
An open invitation to ex-pats, global travelers, and everyone that’s lived abroad, or is simply interested in other cultures. Let’s meet for coffee, dinner, movies, festivals, and local events to share our worldly experiences. Your ideas for events and venues are always welcome.
Also, I created a Facebook group for this Meetup group, where you can get info on events, post photos, communicate with other members, share ideas, etc.

JAPANESE FILM: KUROSAWA'S "IKIRU" (1952)
The Frida Cinema, 305 E 4th St #100, Santa Ana, CA, USLet's try something new. I post a lot of movies on my other Meetup group, and this one happens to be a Japanese movie. Watching movies in foreign languages is a good way to improve your language skills.
I haven't seen it but it is a highly rated film from one of my favorite directors. We have seen several of his films. Frida is doing a series of Akira Kurosawa films over the coming months.

One of the greatest achievements by Akira Kurosawa, Ikiru shows the director at his most compassionate—affirming life through an exploration of death. We are are closing out the December portion of our retrospective on the legendary director’s work with a brand 4K restoration of it thanks to our friends at Janus Films!
Takashi Shimura beautifully portrays Kanji Watanabe, an aging bureaucrat with stomach cancer who is impelled to find meaning in his final days. Presented in a radically conceived twopart structure and shot with a perceptive, humanistic clarity of vision, Ikiru is a multifaceted look at what it means to be alive1 attendee
