Bring your watercolors and let’s paint!

We’ll begin by exploring the museum together. Participants are welcome to sketch from the artwork or simply observe and gather inspiration as we move through the museum. Afterward, we’ll find a designated area to sit and paint what inspires us, whether it’s a piece from the collection, architectural details, or ideas sparked by the visit.

If you’re new to watercolors, this short video offers a helpful overview for setting up your materials in advance:

This gathering is open to artists and creatives of all experience levels. Whether you enjoy sketching, painting, drawing, or exploring other creative practices, this is a relaxed, supportive space to create alongside others.

Museum etiquette:
Please follow OCMA guidelines while sketching in the galleries. Use dry or light-wash materials only, keep supplies compact, and be mindful of other visitors. Artwork should never be touched, and easels or large setups are not permitted inside the museum. Always follow any staff guidance while in the galleries.

Please also be mindful of each other’s creative processes. Some artists prefer quiet focus, so we ask everyone to respect individual working styles and shared spaces.

Admission & parking:
Museum admission is free. OCMA parking is paid, but additional free parking is available across the street or at the mall.
