Hi.

This is just a silly idea for now.

My conjecture is 1% - 25% chance of this actually happening.

*

So I missed the total solar eclipse in 2017.

I recall thinking about driving up to Oregon or elsewhere to be in the path of totality, but didn't actually follow through.

*

Anyhow, the total solar eclipse in 2024 returns to the contiguous USA.

It occurs on Monday, April 8...so totally understandable traveling around a weekday might be challenging for many.

Who knows, maybe a few people have time-off and would like to experience the eery darkness for a few minutes. :)

Or maybe someone happens to be traveling for work to San Antonio, Austin, Dallas, Little Rock, St. Louis, Detroit, Cleveland, Rochester, Syracuse, etc.

*

So if anyone is interested and curious, feel free to do your own research as to where to go.

I personally am thinking of Austin, Texas or Buffalo, New York

During my college days, I used to frequently visit friends in Austin, but haven't seen many of them in years, so that's one potential destination.

Since switching to a mostly plant-based vegetarian/vegan diet, I avoid dairy, but boy, I sure would be tempted to get some Blue Bell ice cream from H.E.B. haha. Good memories!

I also enjoy visiting extended family & friends in Toronto, Canada...so my other idea is to go to Toronto, and then drive 1 hour to cross the border to Buffalo, New York.

Anyhow, if any group members want to plan their own trip and invite others to join them in a certain city, feel free to share your plan.

If so, you can discuss & coordinate details among yourselves (transportation, lodging, logistics, etc.).

Some states in the "path of totality" include

Texas
Oklahoma
Arkansas
Missouri
Kentucky
Indiana
Ohio
Pennsylvania
New York
Vermont
New Hampshire
Maine
