What we’re about

PLEASE NOTE: Since the City of Pasadena has closed the San Rafael Branch library, along with all of the other Pasadena Library branches, we've been unable to meet at our usual location. When the City announces their reopening, our Meetups will resume - and I'll make sure to send all of you members an annoucement. I apologize deeply for not updating this page and keeping you informed.

Perhaps you have - or a loved one or friend has - lived with the label "Obsessive Compulsive Disorder" for many years. I've lived with it for my entire lifetime.

Perhaps you have - or a loved one or friend has - been treated for it in one or more ways, for many years. I've been treated for it in several ways, for nearly my entire adult lifetime.

Perhaps you believe that OCD symptoms can only be controlled, and that whoever has this label will have to live with this disorder for the rest of your life. Though it's been an aspect of my entire life, I'm now nearly OCD-free - and more importantly, I'm happier than I ever believed I could be.

In our regular meetings, I will be sharing with you the many deep insights into the nature and causes of OCD that I've had during a lifetime of dealing with it, as well as a multitude of techniques, tools and tips to reduce it.

Also, because I know how socially isolating OCD often is, our regular meetings will also have time for socializing. during which the members can share with and support each other.

I have the title "Co-Organizer," and I will indeed be taking the lead in making this group's activities happen. But as I consider every human being infinitely valuable, I consider every member of this group equally valuable, and so I consider us all peers. I believe that I have as much to learn from you as you do from me. So, I ask for and welcome your suggestions about the conduct and content of our regular meetings, and also for special events that we could go to together or create ourselves.

I know that, together, we can make this group into a haven of learning, sharing and support. Please join!

Warmly, Alcyone
