What is Conscious Dance?
Conscious dance is inspired by the guidelines laid down through ecstatic dance culture, yet infuses a few new elements that differentiate.
These dances are cultivated as safe, responsible containers so that you are free to move your body in healing, intuitive, and ancient ways as a form of somatic release.
There is no judgement, no performance, and no choreography unless you'd like to follow your own flow.
A few ground rules provide a safe container:

  1. No talking on the floor – Let the movement speak for itself.
  2. Respect consent and boundaries – Dance with wild abandon, but with respect for others’ space, boundaries and body language. Utilize intuition to observe a "yes" and a "no" from potential dance partners prior to and during engagement.
  3. No drugs, alcohol or other intoxicants – Let the music, nature and community create a natural serotonin, dopamine and ecstatic response.
  4. No photos will be taken during the dance. You will be unobserved, in your own world, and can guarantee a truly "free" experience.

It’s a soulful, clearing and liberating experience where you can lose yourself in the music, release what no longer serves you, and be in pure flow.
Opening Movement with Shannon Bailey:
Yoga with Shannon is an accessible and activating yoga flow which allows you to pause, embody, and amplify the light inside of you. Her passion for outdoor yoga is felt every Sunday on the Shell Beach bluffs, where she blesses our community.

Music by DJ Oceana:
After opening yoga, Ana will share an epic DJ set - returning to her roots as a DJ and music producer in LA, you can expect a mixture of many styles of music that encourages freedom of expression, heart expansion, and a little booty dropping bass music!

Native American Flute with Adam Clark, Ecstatic Dance SLO:
Adam is trained in shamanic healing and studies Native American medicine with Circles of Empowerment. He will close the journey with the spirit of wind, welcoming ancestral wisdom through the voice of the Native American flute.
