James Perrett will discuss:

Singleton and Observer: When and why these patterns can be problematic in C++ and possible alternative solutions.

The following issues will be discussed:

* Typical ways of implementing the patterns
* Problems with the patterns
* Alternatives

There will be lots of live coding!

I have found an excellent place to host the next C++ meeting. It is a quiet and separate part of a Chinese restaurant. They do of course have cold beer, but you may also want to come early to order a chop suey, satay, gongbao or something else... I will arrive at 1730 to eat my dinner.

    Thanks to everyone who came - I really enjoyed the discussions we had both during the talk and over a beer afterwards!

    Leared a lot, also at Billabong afterwards. And I'll remember this conversation in the pub:
    - "Are you the Java people?"
    - "No, we're the C++ people, the Java people are downstairs."
