--Facebook discussion:

--search function for specific searching within groups, applications, etc. still being developed; main search function more robust

--2 approaches to group either an affiliation network (e.g. everyone with .edu email account for a college) or global group anyone can join

--can mass-promote events to friends or to groups you are the administrator of

--archived newsfeed a future function to consider

--developers can develop open ID for FB, similar to Google services

--FB the international standard (also Beebo), many journalism-related aps. for microblogging within FB (similar to Twitter)

--casual self-promotion (Twitter, FB)

--often limitation of application up to application developer, some scaleability issues

--challenge to get efficient overlays between communities—migrating one social graph to another, is it always desirable?

--time suck factor in any social networking site—where do I want to invest my time/payoff? Often invest in established platforms where users already are, but still a market for niche, smaller communities separate from big platforms

--learning process for how/what information about yourself to put out on web, “on the air” persona, privacy concerns changed how business being done, same with social networking

--Spock, beta people search, social networking around tags (e.g. “boxer” to find Muhammad Ali or “boxer” to find “Barbara Boxer”)

Thanks again everyone and see you next month!
