A celebrated opera singer never allows her voice to be recorded. Nonetheless, a young fan sneaks some high-quality equipment into one of her recitals and makes an excellent tape. Bootleg record producers get wind of its existence, and they’re willing to use any means necessary to acquire it. Meanwhile, police and gangsters are on the hunt for a tape that contains evidence that could send a kingpin to prison. Both tapes wind up in the same location, and the two groups collide in a stylish and twisted production described by critics as “the New French New Wave.”

Kanopy streaming service provides free online movies to anyone with a library card from the District of Columbia or Loudoun County (residents of many nearby jurisdictions are eligible to receive these cards). Holders of Loudoun County library cards may only use them to stream movies through Kanopy if they reside, work, or study in the county; you may need to visit a branch in the county to confirm your eligibility. If you have an eligible card but haven’t signed up with Kanopy yet, or if you have a card from another library and want to check if it offers Kanopy service, click here: https://kanopy.com/signup
Temporary cards issued online by the District of Columbia library system no longer provide access to Kanopy. You need a permanent card issued directly by a library. For more information about eligibility to receive a card, visit: https://dclibrary.org/getacard
