Two former British soldiers get the idea to make their way to Kafiristan, a remote kingdom somewhere on the Indian subcontinent. If they succeed, they would be the first White men to arrive in centuries. With their superior education and skills compared to the isolated Kafiristanis, they’re confident that they can become the rulers of the land and live like kings. Told mostly in flashback, it’s a story of Victorian-era high adventure, unchecked ambition, and mercenary greed.
