Details
The story concerns people on a bizarre pair of Earth-like planets that orbit each other in such close proximity that they nearly touch. Furthermore, the gravity of each planet only attracts objects from itself, so anyone or anything that travels to its neighbor is immediately dragged back. A morality tale emerges when it’s revealed that one planet has become prosperous by exploiting the resources and population of the other; an enormous office building spans the gap between worlds, and workers inside draw resources from the poorer one to generate profits for the richer.
Enter two teenagers, one from each planet, who climb to the points where the worlds almost touch. There they are close enough to see and speak to each other, turning the story into a cosmic variation on Romeo and Juliet. The fantasy occasionally breaks its own rules, with shadows cast at the wrong angles and objects occasionally falling when they should be rising, but the viewer should disregard such inconsistencies and enjoy the story for what it is: an alien fairy tale.
