Great North Walk - 7th Section - Cowan to Brooklyn
Details
## Details
For our 7th GNW section, we are offering one of our favorites. We keep doing this, and keep enjoying it.
We debated. .. the best idea is to get the big effort in early - ie: the first 1/3rd. Then there is a broad fire-trail until the end, but not has hard as the start.
Optional lunch at the end The Angler's Rest at Brooklyn
Meet: At the Cowan Station on the Pacific Highway side at 7:45am.
See whatthreewords
Distance, Time, Effort: 11.94 km distance, About 3.5 - 4 hrs hours (based on easy pace)
Public transport example: Train from Central Platform 18 at 06:41 am gets in 07:40am. Same train is Hornsby Platform 5 at 7:26am
Note: there is often trackwork, so don't rely on this post, use TripView or similar to confirm your travel arrangements. Use our WhatsApp group to message if you are running late or need more info.
Driving: There is parking at Cowan Station, so opportunities to car pool.
The hike: This is mostly all bush track so hiking shoes/boots/trail runners are recommended. With an easy descent to the water it starts off well, but there are big climbs to eventually get to Brooklyn, which we have stacked to the front. That is why this is rated hard!
Bring 2-3 litres of water and snacks.
