Remember back when albums were a big thing? When MTV ruled, mix-tapes were still in fashion and everyone read the cover notes of albums in HMV or Virgin?
This is a group that’s bringing a touch of that back and geeking out about music.
Each MeetUp, we discuss albums that we've picked in advance - one contemporary recent release and one or two older albums. All genres are fair game, from highbrow to trashy. Expect everything from The Rolling Stones to Steps; Guns N' Roses to Aqua; The Wiggles to Mozart.
It’s basically like a book club, but for albums. Whereas if you dislike a choice at a book club you’re committed to spending hours ploughing through it, here you’ll be done in under 90 mins and can still come along to petition for a different genre choice the following month.
The normal venue will be Channings on Pembroke Road, but I may occasionally vary it.
We don’t take ourselves seriously and are a friendly bunch, so come join us for some fun. I aim for group sizes of up to 12 on the basis this is the limit of being able to fit everyone around one table and be able to get by without paying for a reserved area.
