Cuyahoga River Paddle w/Friends of the Crooked River, Bolanz to Boston

Details

The Friends of the Crooked River are organizing another paddle on the Cuyahoga this Sunday, July30. The plan is to paddle from Bolanz Rd to Boston. From their description:
The river is channelized between steep, muddy banks at our put-in, but soon enough the current picks up steam and the river twists through numerous oxbows, requiring paddlers to negotiate tight turns and strainers. After a portage in Peninsula we’ll enjoy two miles of mild whitewater, some through a beautiful hardwood forest. If there is time, and we have the energy, we can surf a bit on the standing waves just upstream of our take-out at Boston.
Furnace Run is the major tributary in this section, and we'll reach it shortly after we put in. There are many smaller tribs--Langes Run, Salt Run, Haskell Run, and more--and many unnamed tribs as well. It's an interesting stretch of river, rich with human and natural history.
This outing is ONLY for paddlers who can control a boat in moving water.

To go on this paddle you will need to signup through the Friends of the Crooked River: (click here for link to their site)
As with all OKA paddles, FOCR also requires all paddlers to wear properly fitted PFD's.

You must go to the link above and register for the paddle with FOCR. Ken Schneider will send details (probably on Friday or Saturday), including actual start time, where to meet, etc. They are limiting the number of participants, but as of today (Wednesday) there is still plenty of room room.

Just to be clear -- signing up here on MeetUp doesn't get you on the paddle, you have to go the the link above. Once they reach capacity, they will disable further signups
