### History
LaDue Reservoir was built by the City of Akron as a backup water supply and was completed in the early 1960s. It was originally known as the Akron City Reservoir and was renamed in honor of waterworks superintendent Wendell R. LaDue, who championed Akron's watershed protection efforts.
### Reservoir Facts
- Surface area: approximately 1,478 acres
- Shoreline: approximately 24.3 miles
- Location: Auburn and Troy Townships in Geauga County
- Water source: Bridge Creek and Black Brook, tributaries of the Cuyahoga River
- Managed jointly by Akron Water Supply and the Ohio Division of Wildlife.

- Large enough for a full-day paddle.
- Numerous coves, marshes, and inlets to explore.
- Little shoreline development compared with lakes such as Portage Lakes or Berlin.
We will launch at 10:00 AM, so be arrive early to setup. PFD's must be worn at all times & kayak lengths of 14 foot plus only ... to ensure group speed & congruency. Pace of 3.50/hour approx.
Please bring appropriate water, snack and sunscreen. This paddle will be 10-mile minimum ... perhaps up to 12 miles max.
This relaxed group kayak trip is perfect for enjoying nature, exercise, and great company. Participants will paddle along quiet coves and open water while taking in wildlife and shoreline views.
