The September meeting for the Ohio North Database Training user group will be on Tuesday, September 7, 2021...and it will be outside.

Yes, you read that correctly, we will be meeting outside, in-person. There will be no virtual option. Details regarding attendance below.

This month is a joint session presented by our own Allen White, ONDT user group President, and President of DataPerf Professionals, and Erin Stellato, Principal Consultant at SQLskills.

5PM EDT: social hour. This is an unstructured hour where you can, while socially distanced, catch up and meet other members of the group before the session starts.

6PM EDT: Updates and announcements, followed by Allen and Erin's session.

The session is about the art of presenting, but you don't need to be a speaker to gain valuable insight about how to share your thoughts and ideas with others. Check out the abstract below for more info.

LOCATION:
West Creek Metropark - Keystone Shelter
1885 W Ridgewood Dr.
Parma, OH
The shelter is located in the first parking area on the right once you enter the park.

MEETING DETAILS:
We will hold the meeting, rain or shine, as we have reserved a covered space. Please dress appropriately, bring bug repellent if you want, and feel free to bring your own chair if you're particular about that kind of thing!

**We require that anyone who is unvaccinated wear a mask.
**If you are vaccinated and would prefer to wear a mask, please do so.

We have many members of the group who are immunocompromised, and/or have family members that are immunocompromised. We have greatly missed seeing everyone, and this outdoor event allows us to connect after too many months apart, but safety is paramount.

Pizza will be provided, as will bottled water, but please feel free to bring your own beverage.

We hope to see you there!

Session Abstract:
You can be the best technician in the world, but if you can't explain what it is you do to others, your career will stall. In this session we'll talk about ways to share your knowledge with others. We'll talk about the content you're delivering, and how it has an arc just like any novel. The room is your stage, and how you relate to the people you present to will make or break your message. We'll also talk about movement, eye contact, dealing with unfriendly audiences, and more.
