The Future of Computational Medicine: From Data to Models, Artificial Superintel

Details

You are invited to a special in-person event hosted by BBVA México and the Colegio de Matemáticas Bourbaki to launch a new course on intelligence and computation in medicine.

As part of the opening programme, the talk titled “The Future of Computational Medicine: From Data to Models, Artificial Superintelligence, Digital Twins, and Precision Health — Technological Utopia or Inevitable Future?” will be held on:

Date: 7 August 2025
Location: BBVA Tower, Mexico City

This talk by Dr. Hector Zenil will explore the journey of computational medicine, questioning the current obsession with big data and advocating for a return to causality, mechanistic reasoning, and traceable AI models.

Topics to be covered include:

  • Why correlation is not enough, and how uncovering first principles is essential to advance healthcare.
  • How digital twins will reshape diagnostics and intervention through dynamic, patient-specific simulations.
  • What sets apart mechanistic models from statistical black boxes—and why this distinction matters.
  • How Artificial Superintelligence can automate hypothesis generation and enable predictive, personalised medicine from multimodal biological data.

This session is designed for data scientists, machine learning engineers, and researchers working at the intersection of computation and healthcare.
