About us
A different kind of meetup in Budapest.
We organize small, relaxed gatherings in a hidden lounge where people can meet, connect, and enjoy a calm, welcoming atmosphere. Some events include tea tastings or simple guided experiences, others are just easygoing social meetups.
This group is for anyone who enjoys meaningful conversations, cozy spaces, and meeting new people without the noise of typical bars or crowded events.
You can come alone or bring a friend — most people do. Expect a friendly vibe, interesting conversations, and something a little different from the usual.
Hosted by Okūma, a hidden tea space in Budapest.

Open Dharma Budapest - Free Meditation in a Teahouse
Okūma, Vörösmarty 19, Budapest, HUOpen Dharma Budapest is a friendly meditation sangha for anyone interested in meditation. Every Sunday we gather for 1–1.5 hours at a local tea house to sit together, share, and support each other on the path.
What to expect: Each session begins with a 20-minute silent sit, followed by an open, voluntary sharing of our experiences — a space to process what arises in practice, together.Attention: This is not a guided meditation class. We explore a range of techniques rooted in Theravāda Buddhism, with a modern and pragmatic approach - open to both seasoned practitioners and complete beginners.
Your host: Sessions are hosted by Maria East, a long-term practitioner of Theravāda, Vajrayāna, and Dzogchen, with over 10 silent retreats over the last 5 years. Maria is also a clinical psychologist in training, who is happy to offer additional support if practice brings up anything challenging.
You're welcome to enjoy a cup of tea before the session (Menu). Please book here and come earlier if you wish so.
PLEASE RSVP HERE to receive further instructions on how to get in.

Friday Sobers - Tea House Party
Okūma, Vörösmarty 19, Budapest, HUA hidden apartment. Good people. No alcohol required.
Friday Sobers is basically a house party without the alcohol.
If you’ve never been to Okuma before, it’s a hidden tea house tucked away inside an old renovated apartment. Cozy rooms, warm lighting, vintage furniture, music playing in the background, and people spread out across the space. It feels more like hanging out at a friend’s place than going to an event.
On Friday nights, we open the doors and see who shows up.
Some people come with friends, some come alone and end up talking to strangers. People move between rooms, join different conversations, discover new teas, listen to music, and settle into the evening at their own pace.
We’ve got unlimited premium loose-leaf teas and herbal blends brewing all night, but honestly, the tea is mostly an excuse to bring good people together. The real point is having a place to spend a Friday evening that isn’t a bar, a club, or another loud venue where nobody can hear each other.
Just good vibes, interesting people, and a cozy hidden apartment in the middle of the city.
