Day Hike Colorado 14ers 7/22-8/4

For all the hiking I’ve done, I’ve never been above 14,000 ft. I will be driving with one other person and can take a third - to Salida from San Antonio on July 21, spending the night there in the Salida Hostel, then moving to a “base camp” perhaps at Mount Massive, to do day hikes. I anticipate first taking the shuttle up to Pikes Peak ($40) and hiking down to start acclimating, then day hiking several 14ers with lower level day hikes between climbs, and perhaps moving “base camp” once to the Leadville area.

Car camping.

Light packs with warmer clothes, snacks, lunch, three liters of water, and emergency gear.
