Box Camp Trail out and back (easy intermediate)

CARPOOLING INFO: we will meet at McDonald’s at Tanque Verde and Catalina Highway for carpooling. We will leave the carpool site at 6:15 AM and meet up again at the Box Camp trailhead at 7 AM. There are no restrooms at the trailhead. 

Turtle alert! This is going to be a slower paced hike.

This is a reverse out and back hike where we go downhill first and go uphill on the way back. We will start in the tall cool pines and go downhill until we reach the trail intersection for Box Camp Trail 22A. We will then head to the down the trail for about .3 mi stopping before the trail goes steeply downhill. There we will take a snack break before heading back up the way we came. Round-trip the hike is going to be about 3.8-4 mi with a total elevation gain of about 850 ft.

Please bring at least 2 L of water, wear sun protection, and bring a snack or lunch. Hiking poles are highly recommended.

Dogs, firearms and tobacco/vape products are not allowed. Please do not wear any products with fragrances or perfumes, including sunscreen.
