NEW LOCATION: Brooklyn Old Time Learning Jam

Details

Location: New location as of 7/14/25: St. Thomas Aquinas Church: 249 9th Street, Brooklyn (entrance on 4th ave and 8th street) in Park Slope. Take the G/F/R to 4th Avenue and it's a block away! We will let you know after the first jam, if the space is accessible.

The OT Learning Jam takes place twice a month, on the second and fourth Monday of each month. The cost to participate is $10, which goes to support our jam leader for teaching and mentoring. You can pay when you get there - in cash or by Venmo. If payment is a struggle for you, do what you can and don't let it get in the way of joining us.

Who should attend: If you play the fiddle, clawhammer banjo, guitar (rhythm), or mandolin, welcome! Upright bass is welcome too, though we tend to have a regular bass player, who can take turns with you. This jam is a learning environment. We start out playing slowly and then we speed up to what might be a challenging pace for some. We learn a few new tunes each session. Rhythm guitar players -- we need you!

See this doc for some tunes we play:
