What we’re about

We are a Glasgow and Edinburgh-based community organisation (charity) bringing older LGBT+ people together in inclusive and affirmative spaces: http://www.lgbthealth.org.uk

Older and Proud is part of our LGBT Age Project for LGBT+ people aged 50 and over. Therefore, you have to be 50 and over to attend events in this group.

If you are not 50 and over, check our other meetups in Edinburgh at www.meetup.com/WellProudEdinburgh or Glasgow at www.meetup.com/WellProudGlasgow

We welcome the entire diversity of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community including non-binary, queer, intersex, asexual people, and all identities under the LGBTQIA+ umbrella. This includes if you are questionning your sexuality or gender identity, or don't use labels for either.

We use Meetup to promote our programme of events but in order to access them, you need to register in advance by following the instructions in the event details. We will either ask you to register through a Zoom registration link or an Eventbrite link. PLEASE NOTE that a Meetup RSVP does not count as a registration, you need to register through the link provided to get access to the meetup details.

All our events are delivered under a Safe Space Commitment upheld by our staff and volunteers. A Safe Space is somewhere everyone feels welcome, respected and comfortable with being who they are. This includes people who come to our events, volunteers and staff. Please read our safe space commitment before attending a meetup.

As of 18th April, all COVID rules and restrictions were lifted in Scotland. However, the virus has not gone away. The Scottish Government is now promoting the use of “COVID sense” to inform how best to protect people. With that in mind, we are continuing to have COVID safety measures in place to reduce risk though we know risk can never be reduced to zero. Any event may be cancelled or postponed due to unforeseen circumstances or if Scottish Government guidance changes.
