OFJF 25 presents The Harmolodics and Lewis Jordan with Music at Large in Olympia

Come to the ILK Lodge for great locally sourced food, brew and music! Sunday evening features the Harmolodics and Lewis Jordan with Music at Large in Olympia.
The Harmolodics, with Festival mainstays Joe Mailhot on Guitar, Alto Saxophonist Dick Valentine, Cooper Schlegel playing Bass and Drummer Donny Berman will be swinging freely on a selection of Ornette Coleman compositions
Lewis Jordan is a performing artist, musician, poet. His most recent CD, Critcal Mass, features poetry and unbridled improvisation with his group Music at Large. He hopes that his poems and compositions evoke a spirit of resistance to outlived authority, whether it be external or internal. He creates interdisciplinary and multicultural productions and seeks out performers who strive for modes of expression that honor their traditions while speaking to the urgency of the present. He will be accompanied by Dick Valentine on tenor sax, guitarist Joe Mailhot, Cooper Schlegel on bass, and drummer Don Berman.

The Olympia Free Jazz Festival 2025 is a five-day festival from Thursday, July 10 through Monday, July 14 occurring at four different venues and featuring performers from all along the west coast from Vancouver BC to San Francisco.
Beginning with a house concert of solos, duos and trios at Dr. Wheelz’ Pad Thursday, Friday night at New Traditions features the The Myst and DJ G and the Coop. Saturday evening’s event has performances by The Free World, and the Steve Bentley Collective at ILK Lodge. Sunday’s show is also at ILK and features the poetry and music of Bay Area saxophonist Lewis Jordan with Music at Large in Olympia and the Ornette Coleman inspired band the Harmolodics. Monday night at the Eagles finds the Joe Mailhot Jazz Unit closing down the festival.
