Swingin' grooves, a bit of funk, a bit of blues, some Latin jazz, and ballads, too. The Susan Tuzzolino Quartet interprets the American Songbook and beyond and features:
Susan Tuzzolino/vox -- Susan got her start singing jazz vocals at the First Sunday jam sessions in 2009 housed at Traditions Fair Trade Cafe and run by Ron Smith. She's been singing in the jazz vernacular ever since and has studied and worked with a wide range of musicians in the Salish Sea region including Greta Matassa, Kelley Johnson, Jessica Blinn, Lauri Antonioli (Bay Area), David Lee Joyner, Vince Brown, Tarik Bentlemsani, Nick Rawson, Ninee Petchprapa Wolf, Craig Coostona, Cooper Schlegel, EJ Crocker, and Brady McCowan Her warm, rich, and soulful voice connects with audience as she makes each song her own little one act play.
Steve Luceno/bass -- Steve has been composing and playing bass and guitar with some of the most wonderful bands around the Salish Sea area: Obrador, Ocho Pies, Smoocho Gusto, Mike McQuigg Trio, Cool Breeze, just to name a few. A most sensitive player, consummate listener, wonderful collaborator, Steve has two album of all original music: Get Up and Beat the Blues and Constant Conversation.
Elliot Turner is from Tacoma and is such a fine jazz guitarist, as well as a soulful B3 organ, and keys player. He plays with a variety of bands such as Threocracy and Sweet Marilyn. Elliot is a composer and an educator who teaches in Tacoma. Check him out: https://elliottturnermusic.com/
Mark Ivester/drums -- Mark Ivester is a consummate drummer, widely respected for his sensitive musicianship and sincere dedication to his craft. He is experienced in many different idioms from pop-rock to big band to jazz, Latin jazz and orchestral settings. Mark has worked with such jazz luminaries as John Patitucci, Larry Coryell, Freddy Hubbard, Mal Waldron, Diane Schuur, Eliane Elias, Bud Shank, Howard Roberts, Jack Sheldon, Michael Brecker, Charlie Byrd, Barney Kessel, Frank Foster, Bob Mintzer, Randy Brecker, Tierney Sutton, Ann Hampton-Calloway, Karyn Allison and Mose Allison. His versatility is demonstrated on a wide range of recordings such as jingles, film scores and album projects including those of R&B artist Philip Bailey of Earth Wind and Fire, Grammy award winning new age duo Tingstad and Rumbel, Brazilian keyboardist Jovino Santos Neto and vocalist Greta Matassa.
