This month, we're trying something new at the OED meetup -- a pair programming night!

Together, we will work through: setting up your dev environment, "hello world", and developing custom and child themes.

Already have experience with WordPress? Please join us! You get to nom on some snacks and fill a mentorship role for those who are less-experienced.

Why a pair programming night? Studies have found that pair programming produces cleaner code and facilitates learning. Pairing can also make large problems feel more manageable. Plus, it's a low-stakes opportunity to finally Try The Thing you've been thinking about tinkering with. If you have suggestions for frameworks or tech stacks for future pair programming events, please let any of the group organizers know!

Code of Conduct:

We ask that all event attendees take a look at our code of conduct (https://github.com/omahacodeschool/code_of_conduct/blob/v2/README.md) before the event. Please reach out to any of the event organizers if you have questions.

Snacks:
We'll have 'em, as well as IZZE sodas and wine.

Schedule:

5:30 - 5:50 Mingle, get settled in, meet some good folks.

5:50 - 6:00 Break off into pairs, follow some instructions from us on how to set up your environment.

6:00 - 7:45 Work!

7:45 - 8:00 Wrap-up, mingling, and high-fives.

Parking:

Omaha Code School is located on S. 13th Street, right next door to Donut Stop. The most-immediate parking is along the west side of 13th and both sides of William Street (both to the west and east of 13th). Please avoid parking directly in front of Donut Stop.

Feel free to reach out if you have any questions. We look forward to seeing/meeting all of you!
