What we’re about
🌈 Omaha Gay Brigade
Joy. Expression. Community. Creative Resistance.
Welcome to the Omaha Gay Brigade — a gathering of queer folks (and our beloved co-conspirators) who believe that joy is power, creativity is rebellion, and community is the antidote to a world that asks us to buy connection instead of build it.
We host pop-up, public-facing events that are equal parts playful, expressive, and quietly subversive. Our mission is to bring color, song, art, and collective magic into Omaha’s public spaces while challenging the pressure to constantly consume, produce, or perform. Think of us as a roaming band of queer merrymakers with a social conscience and a flair for disruption.
Events may include:
🎤 One-Day Queer Choirs — show up, learn a simple arrangement together, and perform it once in public with zero pressure and maximum joy.
🎨 Community Art Pop-Ups — collaborative murals, chalk takeovers, sidewalk altars, spontaneous craft stations, and creative experiments open to anyone passing by.
🔁 Trading Posts + Barter Nights — bring what you have, take what you need. Art supplies, clothes, plants, zines, skills, food — all shared freely in the spirit of mutual support.
✨ Joy Demonstrations — public offerings of queer play: bubble mobs, costumed strolls, poetry drops, collective humming, nature altars, and other gentle disruptions of the status quo.
This group is for LGBTQIA+ people and aligned folks who want to co-create culture rather than consume it — people who value expression over perfection, community over competition, and shared resources over corporate ones. No experience, skill, or identity prerequisites. Just bring your queer magic, your curiosity, and your willingness to experiment.
If you’re longing for more connection, more color, more play, or more collective meaning-making… you belong here.
Join the Brigade.
Let’s make joyful mischief together.
