Middleton to White Mound County Park Overnight!

Details

Introduction: Join us on another overnight bike camping trip -- enough time to get away but without the need to burn through valuable vacation time! With a beautiful route through Dane and Sauk Counties, quiet roads, and several scenic stops along the way, you'll likely agree this tour is for you. White Mounds County Park has never been offered to the group before, has several hiking trails, showers, and laundry facilities. Hope to see you there!

Skill level: Intermediate

Length: Approx. 45-50 miles per day with a shorter 30-mile length available upon request

Terrain: Rolling hills with some climbs west of Sauk City

Parking: The full main route starts from the Middleton Park and Ride. The shortened route starts from the Sauk City Park and Ride.

Time: Arrival 9:30 arrival; 10:00 depart

Cost: $10-15 depending on the number of attendees

Route: The full route will start at the Middleton Park and Ride and follow the Highway 12 path, where the group will transition to quiet country roads. We will take a lunch/restroom break in Sauk City around noon. In Sauk City, we will follow the Great Sauk Trail north through Prairie de Sac before heading west. Rolling hills with some climbs will soon be the norm as we wind our way past Natural Bridge State Park and make our final stretch run to White Mounds County Park.

Day 2: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/37194477

A shorter route will be available upon request. Please indicate if you intend to ride the shorter route on the RSVP; otherwise, I assume you will be riding the full route

Food Options

Kwik Trip in Sauk City, multiple restaurants in the Sauk City vicinity, but sadly no more Blue Spoon Cafe, a group favorite :(

Do bring food for dinner and breakfast as the closest place to get food is 10 miles away in either direction at the campsite. Each day there will be provisions to get lunch.

Tip: Organize and pack your gear several days prior and tune up your bicycle if needed. Take it around the block...does it feel balanced? By doing these few steps, you will be more confident the morning of departure!

Final Note: Please follow all CDC guidelines and have a mask along just in case. Riders will be required to sign a liability form before the start. Helmets, lights, and proper nutrition/hydration are encouraged. Participants should be prepared to ride the full route at their own pace.

We will cancel at least two hours prior if there is bad weather. Please be courteous to organizers by RSVPing only if you intend on attending and keeping your RSVP current.

Suggested Yearly Donation: $10
