Digital Disinformation and the Irish Elections

Details
As online activity ramps up ahead of the local and European elections on May 23, social media will be awash with heated and contested conversations, candidates, and campaigning.
How can journalists prepare for this?
Join us in Grand Canal Hotel on Wednesday May 1 at 6pm to learn more about what journalists can expect, how hate speech is understood in Ireland, and what role the platforms play. We hope to leave you with some practical tools and ideas for covering the elections.
Presentations will be provided by Mary Fitzgerald (openDemocracy), Ciaran O'Connor (Storyful), Eoin O'Dell (TCD) and Laura Nolan (Tech Won't Build It), followed by a Q and A led by Niamh Kirk (DCU).
Spaces are limited. RSVP is essential.
