Experiments In Story Tracking

Details
Over the course of the past year, a number of online and mobile-centric news outlets have experimented with unique approaches to tracking stories online -- approaches that challenge traditional notions of "the beat" and "the article". What opportunities, beyond live blogging and tweeting, does the digital age offer journalists attempting to track evolving narratives and ideas?
Join the Online News Association's New York group at CUNY's School of Journalism on October 9th for a conversation with three innovative newsmakers whose experiments in story tracking are leading the trend:
Gideon Lichfield, Global News Editor, Quartz (read his thoughts on organizing newsrooms around "obsessions" rather than beats (http://newsthing.net/2012/09/16/quartz-obsessions-phenomenology-of-news/)) -- @glichfield (https://twitter.com/glichfield)
Daniel Bentley, Contributing Editor, Circa (learn about the Circa app here (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RM-1iJ021ZY) and here (http://cir.ca/)) -- @djbentley (https://twitter.com/djbentley)
Chris Dannen, Editor, Co.Labs (See Co.Labs' story tracking experiments (http://www.fastcolabs.com/section/tracking)) -- @chrisdannen (https://twitter.com/chrisdannen)
Moderator: Anjali Mullany, News Editor, Fast Company Digital -- @anjalimullany (http://twitter.com/anjalimullany)
Doors will open at 6:30pm; the discussion will begin at 7:00pm.
