Bots and Your Newsroom: More Than a Passing Fad?

Details

"Alexa, tell me the news." From Facebook to Amazon to Google, newsrooms are looking to bots as an innovative way to deliver the news and engage audiences. But are bots more than just a passing trend?

During this panel discussion, we will dig into how various newsrooms are experimenting with bots. We'll review what works and what doesn't based on practical examples. What should you consider before you start building a bot? How can your newsroom get started in this area? What are the privacy implications for users?

We'll have:

Masuma Ahuja (@masumaahuja (https://twitter.com/masumaahuja)), producer, CNN
John Keefe (@jkeefe (https://twitter.com/jkeefe)), developer, Quartz Bot Studio
Liat Kornowski (@LiatKornowski (https://twitter.com/LiatKornowski)), director of social strategy and innovation, Refinery29
Hailey Persinger (@HaileyErin (http://www.twitter.com/haileyerin)), product manager, The New York Times

Moderator: Todd Olmstead (@toddjolmstead (https://twitter.com/toddjolmstead)), senior audience engagement editor, Wall Street Journal

Doors open at 6:30 p.m. The price of admission includes drinks and snacks.
