Waffle Ride

Details

Sunday is National Waffle Day - so how better to celebrate this delicious phenomenon that with a 50-mile...or maybe a 60-mile ride from Bottle Theory. After waffling about which ride to post, I chose to share the joy of indecision with everyone!
BT 50 - Shearon Harris
BT 60 - Corinth

These clockwise routes begin and end at Bottle Theory in Apex and both stay together until the first rest stop at Merry Oaks on Old US 1 (mile 26). No more waffling after the rest stop, because the 50-mile route continues down Old US 1 to Pea Ridge Rd, while the 60-mile route heads south to Corinth and then joins back with the 50-mile route at Pea Ridge Rd and Old US 1. The second planned rest stop is at Cruisers at Wilsonville (mile 39 for the 50-milers and mile 48 for the 60-milers). We'll sort out who's riding which route at what pace on Sunday.

Sunday's forecast is calling for 70 degrees at the start and low 80s by noon. Please arrive early so we can do the safety dance, introductions, and leave together promptly at 8:30. Bring plenty of water and whatever form of nutrition and electrolytes work for you.

According to Ride with GPS, the terrain is rolling hills with about 1,900 - 2,200 feet of climbing. I plan on riding at about a 16mph average (+/- depending on the group). This is not a no-drop ride, but as long as you can maintain at least a 15mph average for the entire ride you won't ride alone.

We'll gather up for post-ride refreshments at Bottle Theory.

Again, please bring two water bottles, and as always, helmet, spare tube and basic tools are required.

If you haven't done so, please sign the digital waiver:
