ToD New Year's Day Ride
Details
To help wave goodbye to 2025 and welcome 2026, come join us for a road bike tour of the country roads of Chatham County.
This 40ish-mile route (https://ridewithgps.com/routes/49319377) heads west from Bottle Theory in Apex to Jordan Lake and south to Old US 1 where we'll have a convenience store rest stop at about mile 22. We'll then work our way north on Beaver Creek and Farrington Roads back towards Bottle Theory. According to Ride with GPS, the terrain is rolling hills with about 1,500 feet of climbing. I plan on riding at about a 16mph average (+/- depending on the group). This is not a no-drop ride, but as long as you can maintain at least a 15mph average for the entire ride you won't ride alone.
The forecast calls for mostly sunny skies with temps in mid-40s at the start and mid-50s at the end - so plan your layers accordingly. Please arrive early so we can have our safety chat, introductions, and leave together promptly at 10:30. Bring plenty of water and whatever form of electrolytes work for you. As always, helmet, water bottle, spare tube and basic tools are required.
Since Bottle Theory is closed New Year's Day, we'll gather at Mezcalito's (next to Bottle Theory) for post-ride beverages and food.
If you haven't done so, please sign the digital waiver:
