BT Birthday Ride
Details
We have two milestone birthdays coming up for fellow Drafters - Chris Bagley hits the big Five OH! and Mark Mason aces his 79th lap around the sun! Celebration is in order so we're planning to ride 50 birthday miles for Chris and ~79 birthday kilometers for Mark.
BT Birthday Ride
(this is NOT the BT 50 - Shearon Harris route from a few weeks ago)
This route begins and ends at Bottle Theory in Apex with the first rest stop at Merry Oaks on Old US 1 (mile 17.5). The route then continues south to Corinth then back north to Pea Ridge Rd to the second planned rest stop at Cruisers at Wilsonville (mile 39). According to Ride with GPS, the terrain is rolling hills with about 1,800 ft of climbing. I plan on riding at about a 16mph average (+/- depending on the group). This is not a no-drop ride, but as long as you can maintain at least a 15mph average for the entire ride you won't ride alone.
Saturday's high temps are forecast for about 70 F, but rain may end up being a factor, so do your best No Rain Dance (for Saturday at least) in hopes of relatively dry roads for our ride.
Please arrive early so we can do the safety talk, introductions, and leave together promptly at 9:30. Bring plenty of water and whatever form of nutrition and electrolytes work for you. Also, no motorized bikes or e-bikes are allowed for this ride. As always, helmet, spare tube and basic tools are required.
We'll gather up for post-ride refreshments at Bottle Theory. If you crave serious food, Mezcalitos is next door and you can bring your take-out order to BT.
