Virtual Write-in (just bring pen & paper, prompts provided!)
Details
Welcome to the OCC's write-in! Different from our usual co-working marathon sessions, this is a time to shake up your creativity, break through writer's block, and have fun playing with new ideas. Just bring yourself and something to write with, everything else is waiting for you.
How it Works:
The session will consist of a series of short freewriting sprints, ranging from 4-10 minutes, with new prompts provided for each. After each sprint, you may choose whether to share what you wrote using that prompt.
Rules:
- Feedback is minimal, positive, and encouraging; this is not a critique group.
- Writers of all genres and all levels of experience are welcome.
- If the prompt provided doesn't inspire you: write to something else (but sharing out to the group is based on shared prompts)
- Pen & paper are encouraged (to help limit distractions and self-editing as you write), but whatever works best for you is of course absolutely fine.
- No homophobia, sexism, transphobia, racism, etc. will be tolerated.
- Adults only, since mature content may be shared.
Structure:
- 11:15-11:20 "ish" (CST): settling in, getting coffee, welcoming/socializing, and brief intro (as needed)
- 11:20-12:25 "ish" (CST): freewriting sprints from given prompts (mics off, video optional)
- 12:25-12:30 "Ish" (CST): (dependent on number of attendees) wrap-up with some time to socialize and network.
Credit for the write-in format goes to the wonderful in-person Midtown Writer's Group; if you're in the Twin Cities, I highly recommend attending!
If prompted for a passcode, it is 256944.
