D&D 5E: The Roots of Evil

Details

This is a Zoom session for Levels 1-4 PCs. Beginners are welcome!
Your Quest group consists of Good-aligned PCs whose deities guide your Campaign to save the World of Greyhawk from domination by evil supernaturals of immense power.

Kanos, headmaster at the Kanos School of Adventuring from which you graduated, and his professors of magic, weaponry, lore, stealth, and many other skills, have prepared you for this Quest with special abilities.

Last Session: The group spent a month learning about the underground castle they were living in. It secures trade from the northern part of the Wild Coast to the southern part of the Wild Coast. Its Garrison has been whittled down by raids from Drow Elves, Quaggoths, Ettercaps, and Giant Spiders serving the Daemon Lord Xengahra, and Sza’grath, the Daemon who replaced Xengahra when the group destroyed him. They learned that a seeming endless horde of Giant Spiders were being produced in a breeding cave and were overwhelming the castle’s Garrison.
After meeting Centurio, the commander of the castle, the group learned that the enchanted underground fungi that sustained the castle and the people within it was being mutated by abyssal essence supplied by Sza’grath, The group agreed to search for the source of the abyssal essence and destroy it, if possible. Centurio gave them a tinderbox that generates a magical arcane fire that burns quickly and with devastating effect. It had three charges.
The hobbit Wood led the group to the entrance of the cave where servants of Sza’grath had been seen recently. After destroying two groups of Gargoyles, the group discovered a cave filled with newly hatched Giant Spiders and eggs. Upon the urging of Aragorn and Sidekick, the group quickly used one charge of arcane fire from the tinderbox to destroy the Giant Spider breeding cave. This eliminated one of the main threats to the castle, but the source of the mutations has not yet been found.
And the group did not identify The Enemy Within!
The next session will begin at this point.

Please respond as early as possible so we can prepare this custom scenario. If you are a new player, we will need to integrate your PC into the scenario at least 2 weeks before the session.
