About us

The idea of the writers workshop is to present your writing for detailed and meaningful feedback from a small group of other writers. It is aimed at people seeking eventual publication or generally to professionalise their work.

HOW IT WORKS

Two or three writers have their writing (an extract of max. 1,500 words) distributed to the group a few days before the workshop. In the ONLINE session, writers offer their collective feedback over the space of around two hours. Workshops sizes will be limited to ten people so that everyone has a chance to speak.

The model is similar to the kind of workshops experienced on an MA/MFA in Creative Writing.

The workshop will be Google Meet or Microsoft Teams – something that everyone can use.

NOTE: This is not a group for practising English as a second language. It is assumed that all writing extracts are at native level.

NEXT STEPS

First, let's see how many people are interested. Then I will set a date and organise the distribution of manuscripts.

ABOUT ME

Under the names of James McCreet and Matt Stanley, I'm the author of six traditionally published novels, three non-fiction books, and five self-published books. I used to teach the Novel module of the MA in Creative Writing at a UK university, and have worked as a copywriter/editor/writing coach for the last 20 years.
