IMPORTANT!!!! - Good Cause Eviction Law - Town Hall Meeting -
Details
DEAR FELLOW LANDLORDS AND INVESTPRS - Please come out tomorrow to the Syracuse City hearing on the Good Cause Eviction Law. The Town Hall Meeting starts at 5pm at the Council chambers at Syracuse City Hall. The Neighborhood Preservation Committee has arranged for a "Town Hall Style" meeting. The council is expected to vote this Monday on opting in to the state Good Cause Eviction Law. 5 of the 8 sitting councilors have said they support the proposal.
This law will make annual rent increases above 10 percent or five percent plus the Consumer Price Index (whichever is lower) presumptively unreasonable to protect tenants against price gouging and strengthens legal protections for covered renters in eviction proceedings, where applicable.
This law started in NYC and has been adopted in 19 cities in New York. Thee other cities are: Albany, Kingston, Poughkeepsie, Ithaca, Beacon, Nyack, Hudson, Catskill, Rochester, Croton-on-Hudson, Fishkill, New Paltz, Newburgh, and Binghamton.
This new law has to be voted in. It is not beneficial to the maintenance of properties, value of properties, and managing tenants. It is damaging to the future of rental properties in Syracuse, NY.
Please come out and help the city hear the other side of this story.
The final vote to approve will be this Monday
