For this Wanderabout, we are heading North for a retreat in the country at an award-winning venue called The Journey Home. Before you google search, imagine a weathered, rebellious barn that refuses to give in and a graceful Georgian-style Manor that nods politely… that is the theme of this retreat called The Experience of Yes.

“Yes” exists at the edges of rebellion and grace.”

“Yes” is a tiny word with immense power.

“Yes” can establish boundaries and break barriers.

“Yes” arrives with a wink, nudge, or dare.

How do you respond?

For us, in this retreat, “Yes” will lead to curiosity, insights, adventure, connection, and maybe a little rebellion as we roam through the nuances of that little three-letter word.

So let’s get curious to see what is under every “yes” besides a whole lot of “no’s”:

Physiology: Why your brain sometimes leaps before it looks or hides behind a tree while everyone else has moved onto a different game.

Sociology: How culture teaches us when to nod politely, when to get our boots on and say “hell yeah” (even when our mind/body is saying “hell no”) and when to walk away without a word.

Psychology: How our mind will mix rebellion and grace, then use everything between to negotiate with the “yes” we are in the habit of uttering and the option of the “yes” we are about to discover.

Literature: How the stories we tell ourselves and others influence our present moment and our future stories. How great stories land and bounce around in the existing pile of “yeses” that we already hold, creating a new chapter in our lives, every moment, every day.

So come to the country and open your mind to the breeze that blows from manor to barn. Come to explore the possibilities it brings from quiet rebellion to stately grace as we discover the magic of the nuances of “yes”!

We will meet at the Georgian Manor’s front room at 10:30 am for a short tour of the home’s interior before gathering for an intro.
