Wikirate Open Data Day 2024: Join Us for a Hack Day Celebration!

To celebrate Open Data Day, Wikirate is hosting a hack day focused on shedding light on a topic that impacts us all: the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). You might be wondering, 'What are the SDGs, and why should I care?'

The SDGs are a set of global goals established by the United Nations to address various challenges facing our world, such as gender equality, decent working conditions and climate change. Companies play a crucial role in contributing to these goals, but understanding their impact can be complex.

That's where Wikirate comes in! We host a number of data sets on business contributions to SDGs 5 (Gender Equality), 7 (Clean Energy), 8 (Decent Work), and 13 (Climate Action).

Now, we want your help in investigating this question: How do German companies measure up on the SDG scale?

### About the Hackathon

During the event, we are going to research questions aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals 5 (Gender Equality), 7 (Affordable and Clean Energy), 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), and 13 (Climate Action). Focusing on German-based companies, we will gather and analyze data, create our own company ratings using the Wikirate platform, explore visualization options, and disseminate our findings to the world. Everybody is invited to participate!

Developers are also encouraged to participate, with opportunities such as leveraging Wikirate’s API to integrate sustainability data into their applications or collaborating on creating custom visualization tools tailored to specific metrics, or prototyping new features to enrich the platform’s functionality. Join us for a day of exploration, collaboration, and impactful insights.
