About us
With Code for America sunsetting the national brigade framework, Impact Hub Houston is committed to continue convening purpose-driven problem solvers to improve communities, inspire civic engagement, and increase innovation empowerment for impactful outcomes. In that spirit, we are migrating our annual City of Houston Hackathon, monthly Open Project Nights, Climathon Houston, and other impact + innovation events under the Impact Hub Houston umbrella of "Ideas to Impact" -- an initiative open to all who want to tackle challenges for the greater good.
We're always looking for great people to help shape, facilitate, energize and lead this group. It's a volunteer role that can connect you with our local innovation ecosystem and Impact Hub's regional and global networks. This is your opportunity to help grow this community, enhance areas of focus, curate speakers and cultivate the future of this group. Perks include access to Impact Hub Houston's networks and spaces, and working with people who care and actively transform ideas into impact!

Save the Date - Houston Hackathon 2026
The Ion, 4201 Main St, Houston, TX, USWe're gearing up for Houston Hackathon 2026 - beginning in person on September 25th.
Join us for this brief info session - August 12th - where we'll share the who, what, when, where, why and how of it all.
The Houston Hackathon is an opportunity for people with different skills to collaborate on projects to improve life in Houston.
Impact Hub Houston envisions a more equitable, inclusive, and sustainable economy, where people are empowered with the skills, capacity, and resources they need to take action. We invite you to be a part of this vision by participating in this annual opportunity to develop systemic and transformative solutions for Houston – solutions that are rooted in local communities so that they are as diverse as Houston, and work for ALL of Houston.
Why Join a Hackathon?
- To make a difference in their community
- To learn new skills or work on real problems
- To meet other cool people who care about the same things
- To turn ideas into action in just a weekend
- To collaborate with local government, nonprofits, and startups
- To challenge themselves and think creatively
- And for a lot of people, it’s just fun! Like summer camp for ideas and action.
We invite all people who want to make a difference in our region to join us at the annual Houston Hackathon! This is a “civic” hackathon, focused on ideating, designing, and developing both policy-based and tech solutions to some of Houston’s greatest challenges. Project stakeholders will be there from the city, county, local organizations, and Houston's impact community!
Registration will open soon - but for now, please SAVE THE DATES!
