Dieses MeetUp wird mit dem VDSG gemeinsam gestaltet, zu Gast haben wir Claire Melamed (Executive Director, Global Partnership for Sustainable Development Data):
She is the CEO of the Global Partnership for Sustainable Development Data, heading up a global team based in five countries. Claire is based in London, and has worked for a number of international NGOs, including her previous assignment as Managing Director of the Overseas Development Institute, and a position at the Office of the UN Secretary General, where she wrote the report of the Independent Expert Advisory Group on the Data Revolution, “A World That Counts”. Dr. Melamed has a Ph.D. from the University of London, and has also taught at the University of London and the Open University. She can be found on Twitter at @clairemelamed.

This time we want to talk about how NGOs, with the support of the Data Science community, could create greater impact through the use of data. If you are an NGO looking to move from vision to practice, or if you belong to the Data Science community and want to create more positive impact though your skills, this is the right event for you.

We will listen to Dr. Melamed’s experience on how to move from talk to impact, and discuss the existing ecosystem, with a special focus on Vienna, to support these efforts.

PROGRAMM:
*) Formal launching of the Data4Good program in Vienna. Powered by Rania Wazir. (10 Min) – Rania will introduce the program Data4Good lead by VDSG, as a mechanism to move from talk to impact.

*) Data for Action: How to move from talk to impact in the data revolution. Powered by Claire Melamed. (30 Min) – Claire will talk about her work bringing together governments, companies & NGOs to deliver and use the data needed to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

*) Discussion Panel: From talk to impact: Ecosystem to support you. With Dr Melamed, Impact Hub and VDSG's members. (30 Min) – Our panelists will provide several perspectives regarding the existing ecosystem (WW and Vienna scope) to move from talk to impact.

Jeder dritte Donnerstag im Monat für Open und Data:

Rund 4x Jährlich veranstalten wir "Vienna Open Data MeetUps" (17–19.00 mit Programm, Data Drinks im Anschluss), an den restlichen Donnerstagen treffen wir uns ab 19.00 zum Austauschen, kennen lernen und socializen (ohne Programm) auf "Data Drinks".

Sobald wir unsere nächsten Termine geplant und koordiniert haben, werden sie hier entsprechend upgedatet.
Alle unsere Treffen dienen als zentraler Treffpunkt für alle Personen, die an den Themen Open Data – offenes Wissen – Datenmanagement – Daten (…) interessiert sind. Wir freuen uns immer über bekannte und neue Gesichter, Interesse ist willkommen, Vorkenntnisse sind nicht nötig!
