As of Fall 2025, we are looking for an ideal venue that meets these conditions: 1. reasonably priced food and drink; 2. close to downtown Bellingham; 3. all ages; 4. beer/alcohol options. Please note that we may be moving to different locations from week to week!

For Oct 29th, we will be meeting at Ay Chihuahua at 1415 Railroad Ave near the bus station. (It's where Casa Que Pasa used to be). The food is cheap and decent. Drinks seem to be somewhat limited.

For November 5th, we were talking about trying Elizabeth Station at 1400 W Holly St #101.

We do often have book readings that some of us participate in, but otherwise topics aren't planned. In the coming weeks, I have the following two books on my list:
1. Robert Sapolsky's "Determined: A Science of Life Without Freewill"
2. Fyodor Dostoevsky's "Notes From Underground"
Though they aren't quite a perfect contrast, I do think they present differing views on freewill, rationality, and scientific reductionism.

Club size in the summer tends to vary from 6-12 people. Many of the attendees are active or past students from my classes at Whatcom Community College or people who found the the club from this Meetup site.

I'm making this a kind of generic event that I can copy and pasta since I mostly organize through Facebook. If you're interested in joining that group, you can search "Open Philosophy Club 3.0". And feel free to message me somewhere to let me know that you requested to join.
