In this 2-hour beginner workshop, participants will learn basic principles and practices of growing mushrooms indoors or in the garden, using the most simple and affordable techniques.

Willoughby Arevalo is a mycologist, artist, musician, farmer, kitchen wizard and educator. He teaches about fungi, performs and leads forays regularly at festivals and events around North America. He grows mushrooms at home and in the garden using low-tech methods, subsistence forages and prepares food and medicine from the harvests. Willoughby is a member of the Radical Mycology Collective (http://radicalmycology.com), a group dedicated to sharing accessible information on ways of seeing and working with fungi for community resilience and resistance. He is also a member of the Vancouver Mycology Society (http://www.vanmyco.com).
