AGENDA
17:30 // Food, drinks and networking
18:00 // Welcome and introduction // Colin Eberhardt and Oliver Cronk, Scott Logic
18:05 // 'Getting Started with Prometheus' // Eric Schabell
Come and learn about Prometheus, a free and open source systems monitoring and alerting tool kit that enables you to discover, collect, and query your observability data.
Prometheus is designed to help engineers and site reliability engineers (SREs) who are interested in moving away from proprietary instrumentation and getting started with open source observability.
After watching this talk, you will be invited to join a self-paced, free, and online workshop. During the workshop, you will install Prometheus, collect metrics, and learn how to effectively run it in your observability stack.
18:40 // Break
19:00 // 'Beyond Barriers: Empowering underrepresented women through Open Source' // Tandy Nicole
This talk will explore the power and impact of open source technology currently being used by Womennetic to help women from refugee backgrounds to access resources. Womennetic is a not-for-profit organisation that supports women to get into Tech by responding to social needs and creating opportunities. Its community members take advantage of open source products to support their learning and development.
Tandy will share some of the specific challenges and hardships faced by underrepresented women and highlight the positive impact that open source software has had on their lives and careers.
19:30 // Event close/networking drinks
