Poznan Open Source Meetup #10

Details
Poznan Open Source Meetup #10 is coming!
Attention Open Source enthusiasts! Join us for the 10th edition of our knowledge-packed meeting, where industry experts will delve into the world of open source edge computing. Mark your calendars for June 6th at 18:00, and get ready for two technical presentations, a Q&A session, and an afterparty that will last well into the night.
Agenda:
1. Nix and reproducibility; Nikodem Rabulinski, Antmicro
Nix has been growing in popularity lately and is advertised as a unique package manager… or is it? We will discuss what it means for something to be reproducible, why you should care, what is the essence of Nix, and finally - what’s all the rage that makes everyone try it. Is it really the silver bullet for both deployments and developer environments? Can it really save you from having to format your system on a regular basis? What are the caveats? We will discuss this and more, no prior experience needed!
2. Implementing scalable distributed applications with ROS 2; Grzegorz Latosinski , Antmicro
The Robot Operating System 2 (ROS 2) provides a set of libraries for implementing complex systems of applications communicating with each other using relatively simple communication models – such as service-client or publisher-subscriber – in a distributed manner. While its primary purpose is to simplify development of robot applications, ROS 2 is great for implementing any complex applications that involve handling multiple data sources and algorithms in parallel thanks to its modularity and programming model which enable implementation of large applications by combining several smaller ones.
The presentation will provide insight into the ROS 2 ecosystem — what the communication models are and how to configure them, how to implement ROS 2 nodes in an easy-to-configure way, and how to run and analyze entire applications consisting of multiple nodes.
