Poznan Open Source Meetup #14
Details
Poznan Open Source Meetup #14 is coming soon!
Open source fans - save the date! Join us on Tuesday, May 26th for another evening dedicated to open technologies, innovation, and community in Poznan.
Expect a relaxed but inspiring meetup bringing together developers, engineers, and enthusiasts passionate about open source. As always, we’re preparing insightful technical talks followed by a Q&A session, giving you a chance to engage with speakers and explore the topics in more depth.
Agenda:
1. VirtIO: An open standard for paravirtualized device drivers; Mateusz Karlic, Antmicro
VirtIO is an open standard, which describes the method of communication between a virtualized operating system and an emulated device. The drivers for these devices are meant to be efficient, easily maintainable and portable between many different virtualization ecosystems. In this presentation, we will describe the VirtIO API layer, as it is implemented in Linux and Zephyr, with some hands-on examples of devices leveraging this standard.
2. An OpenROAD to designing your own chips, Maciej Dudek, Antmicro
Have you ever wondered how a hardware description turns into your new CPU or GPU, and wished you could design a chip yourself? If so, then this presentation is for you. This talk will start with a simple introduction to hardware description and digital logic, which will be followed by a selection of tools and projects aimed at providing a complete package for digital design, with a special focus on the highly autonomous, single-click flows for RTL to layout available in the ecosystem built around the OpenROAD project. The talk will also outline synthesis tools, automation frameworks, and PDKs, and show that the gap between proprietary and open source solutions has never been narrower.
