Wroclaw Open Source Meetup series is back after the summer break. The end of the summer marks the beginning of a new season of events which are all about open source. We would like to invite you for two technical talks, a Q&A session and of course a socializing & networking afterparty in Concordia Hub till late.

Join us at Wroclaw Open Source Meetup #11 on Thursday, October 6th.

Agenda:

1. OAuth2 & OIDC. The ins and outs of (Internet’s favorite) passwordless authentication; Adam Olech, Antmicro

Resource access delegation and identity management can be daunting to get right, especially considering how often we find ourselves stitching together different APIs and services in our daily work. If you’re interested in understanding the ins and outs of the industry-standard authorization protocol and you want to get to know how to verify and exchange identity across many different providers and how to automate these tasks, this talk is for you!

2. Democratizing ASIC designs with open source tools; Piotr Katarzynski, Antmicro

For decades, the process of designing a custom integrated circuit (ASIC) has been heavily dependent on proprietary solutions, restricting access to chipmaking to companies and universities able to sustain the licensing and contractual complexity and cost involved.
Now, thanks to initiatives like RISC-V and CHIPS Alliance, the face of chip design is changing rapidly, especially as the recent COVID-19 outbreak that fueled the global chip shortage crisis is putting issues of design, fabrication and delivery of ASICs in the spotlight.
Entities behind the CHIPS Alliance, such as Google, Western Digital and Antmicro, believe that to overcome the shortage of talent, decrease the turnaround time and enable more specialized designs for every application it is necessary to democratize the very process of how chips are made, by opening it up to a more collaborative ecosystems companies, developers and researchers building on top of open source tools and components.
This presentation outlines open source Process Design Kits, tools and methodologies which have emerged recently and are now actively being developed to facilitate the transfer of knowledge, reference designs and best practices in modern, ASIC development.
To illustrate this, we will summarize notable state-of-the art open source work within ASIC design and highlight some recent contributions including pre-silicon testing of in-development open ASIC designs with the help of open source simulation tools such as Renode and Verilator.
