What is Code for San Jose?
Code for San José is a volunteer organization made up of makers, designers, developers, and subject matter experts who come together to use tech to solve civic problems.

About the Speaker
Dolores Morales started her career with the County of Santa Clara in 1995, with the County Executive, Office of Human Relations. She is very proud to have worked with the community in creating and implementing programs that addressed the needs of our residents, and inspired legislative change. She coordinated the Dispute Resolution Program and the Training Institute, managed twelve programs surrounding social justice, Ombuds, worked with schools to implement alternatives to suspension and hate crimes. Subsequently, Dolores worked for the Probation Department as a Management Analyst in the Program Analyst Communication and Evaluation Unit; coordinating various committees, working with community-based organizations, writing grants, contracts and conducted program evaluation. She has been a Senior Training & Staff Development Specialist in the Training Unit, where she was part of developing Probation Officer CORE. Dolores has been part of several County-wide initiatives, including Center for Leadership and Transformation, Supervisor and Manager educational programs, centralized volunteer coordination, and help create policy addressing working conditions for supervisors and managers. Dolores obtained her Justice Studies Degree from San Jose State University. Negotiations, Mediation and Communication Certifications from Stanford University and certifications from the University of Minnesota, School of Social Work in Restorative Justice focusing on the impact of severe violence on victims and brain neurology.
