Join Code for San José, Code for America, and the Brigade Network for the virtual 2020 National Day of Civic Hacking, which brings together civic leaders, government staff, designers, coders, and engaged citizens to partner with local government and community groups to tackle some of our toughest challenges.

This year, we invite you to join us for a day of collective action to help those most in need of social safety net services during COVID-19. Have other pressing issues in your community that you’d like to work on? You’re welcome to join too! Everyone is welcome! No previous experience, expertise, or prep-work required!

Here’s the tentative schedule for the day:
9 am PST - 10 am PST - Code for America Keynote Event
10 am PST - 11am PST - Learn about the action you will be taking for the day
Action 1- Complete a Design Audit for your state’s benefits applications
Action 2- Create an Asset Map of resources available in your community
Action 3- Work through problem statements about the Social Safety net and COVID response

11 am PST - 12pm PST - Breakout Sessions and Working Time
Join a Brigade-specific Zoom to work together in groups to complete the three actions, or collaborate with local partners on related issues.

12 pm PST - 1 pm PST - Lunch break (on your own)
1:00pm PST - 1:30 pm PST Check-In Each Action Item will have a check-in.
1:30pm PST - 2:30 pm PST Breakout Sessions and Working Time
For the rest of the day, you can choose to hang out in a breakout session or jump around as you please.
2:30pm PST - 3:00 pm PST Wrap up and report back.
