True Observability: Why It's Important, What Works, What Doesn't & Architecture
Details
The August meetup will feature a topic that is extremely relevant to nearly everyone in our community, whether they realize it or not - observability. It allows you to understand what's going on across complex environments and technologies and to not only know that something is wrong, but why it's wrong. It's incredibly useful and important.
Our speaker is Jeremy Proffitt, Director of DevSecOps at Ally. He'll be visiting us from Charlotte, NC.
Doors open at 6:00 pm, live programing begins at 6:30 pm ET sharp. We'll begin the evening with a few community announcements, then we'll quickly move to our speaker.
Location:
The meetup will take place at the SOCO co-work space. The address is: 808 Lady Street, suite D, Columbia, SC 29201. Here is the website for SOCO - https://soco-work.com/. Note, there are two locations for SOCO in Columbia – we are at the Lady Street/Vista location.
*Lots of swag will be available at this meetup, to include t-shirts, hats, stickers, and some really cool technology. All will be free of charge, as always.
Please note, there will not be a mask mandate in effect, but masks are encouraged for anyone feeling uncomfortable. We'll have masks available free of charge as well - don't hesitate to ask us onsite.

Talk Title:
Building Reliability - The Realities of Observability
Talk Abstract:
Join me as we discuss true observability, learn what works and what doesn't. We'll not only discuss dashboards, monitoring and alerting, but how these can be built by automation or included in your IAC modules. We'll talk about how to properly alert staff based on priority to keep your staff and yourself sane. And even discuss architecture and how it impact reliably and why serverless isn't always the best at being reliable.
